The invention relates mainly to a device and method for managing priority. The invention relates to priority management using two stacks 1, 2 of first-in, first-out type, a multiplexer, two comparators 7, 23, a counter 6 and a register 3. In an instantaneous phase the comparator 7 stores in the register 3, by way of the multiplexer 4, the information to be forwarded. During the analysis phase which looks for the highest priority and oldest information item, the information items arriving in instantaneous mode are also compared and if they are of higher priority, they are stored in the register 3 until the oldest information item having the highest priority in the register is obtained. The invention applies to the management of priorities. The invention applies mainly to the management of priorities in television transmissions and to the carrying out of television transmissions using priority management. <IMAGE>
