PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound useful as medicines, etc., in good yield at a low cost, by culturing a microorganism which is a coryneform glutamic acid-producing miroorganism having tolerance to cysteine (analog) and the ability to produce L-arginine in a culture medium and collecting the resultant product. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism [e.g., Corynebacterium.glutamicum (FERM BP-1823)] which is a coryneform glutamic acid-producing microorganism having tolerance to cysteine or analog thereof and the ability to produce L-arginine is inoculated into a culture medium and cultured at 30 deg.C for 72hr by shaking. After completing culture, the resultant solution is centrifuged to remove microbi al cells. The obtained supernatant is then passed through a strong acidic ion exchange column to elute, separate and purity an adsorbed substance with aqueous ammonia. The purified substance is subsequently concentrated and crystallized to afford crystals of L-arginine. |
