PURPOSE:To obtain an image-receiving medium free of possibility of welding and high in recorded density by providing a dyeable layer and a dye transport layer comprising a microporous structure of a heat-resistant or releasable resin, on a base. CONSTITUTION:An image-receiving medium comprises a base A, on which a dyeable layer B comprising a substance easily dyeable with a sublimable dye is provided, and a dye transport layer C comprising a microporous structure of a heat-resistant or releasable resin is provided on the dyeable layer B. A sublimation thermal transfer recording medium comprises a base film 2 and a dye transfer layer 3. Under heating by a thermal head 1, a heat-sublimable dye in the dye transfer layer 3 of the transfer recording medium is sublimed and dispersed, and is transferred to the dyeable layer B of the image-receiving medium by passing through pores in the dye transport layer C. The dye transport layer C comprises the porous structure of a heat-resistant or highly releasable resin having a high glass transition temperature, so that welding does not occur, and the sublimed dye can pass through the pores in the dye transport layer C to dye the easily dyeable substance in the dyeable layer B, whereby a high recorded density can be obtained. |
