PURPOSE:To reduce the size and cost of an image forming device by providing a cover sensor which detects outer covers being opened/closed and detecting whether the photosensitive body is present or absent with the output signal of a density sensor when the outer covers are closed. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a photosensitive body 1 attached/ detached by opening the outer covers 42 and 43, the density sensor 53 for detecting the density of a toner image formed on the photosensitive body 1, and the cover sensor 52 which detects the outer covers being opened/closed. A photosensitive body detecting means (CPU) compares the level of the output signal of the density sensor 53 with a reference level when the cover sensor 53 detects the outer covers being closed, and detects whether the photosensitive body 1 is present or absent according to the comparison result. Consequently, the density sensor can be used in common to detect whether the photosensitive body is present or absent, and the device is miniaturized and the cost is reduced. |
