A construction for filling handlable material in containers or moulds by means of a mechanical shovel, especially for filling so-called large sacks 10, which are designed for the transport or storage of the material, has a mechanical shovel or grab 5, which can be attached to a machine or loader tractor in the conventional way, and which has an open side, through which the shovel can be filled with material. The wall of the shovel that is located opposite the open side of the shovel, and which forms the bottom of the shovel when the said open side of the shovel turns upwards, partially has the shape of a hopper 8. In a passage 9 through the funnel-shaped part a closing element 12 is provided. The funnel-shaped part 8 is designed to interact with a filling opening of the container 10 in such a way that a desired quantity of material can be transferred from the shovel to the container. <IMAGE>
