At least one magnetic material which is able to react to a magnetic field operating from outside from an electronic monitoring device is added to a pharmaceutical composition in order to emit a signal, which can be detected selectively by this monitoring device, to provide unambiguous information on whether the composition has been taken by a patient or not and/or to locate the composition or the magnetic material in the gastrointestinal tract of the patient.
