The winding station (SP) is designed for the alternate production of cross-wound bobbins (L1, L2) of different types. It possesses a storage point (E1) for an exchangeable transport element (305). The transport elements (305) are each designed for receiving only two cross-wound bobbins (L1, L2). The two cross-wound bobbins (L1, L2) are extracted from the winding station (SP) in succession by means of a cross-wound bobbin changer (2) and are transferred onto the transport element (305). An automatic change mechanism (E1) for exchanging a filled transport element (305) for an empty transport element (305) is present. Moreover, a transport apparatus (304) for transporting away the filled transport elements (305) to a collecting point and for supplying empty transport elements (305') to the textile machine is present. <IMAGE>
