A heating system which is fitted to the underside of a glass ceramic hob consists of a plurality of paper-like layers, for example of mineral fibres, between which narrow metal conductor tracks are arranged as heating system. The layers and the heating conductor layer are compressed together by means of rollers so that a very thin film-like layer is produced which has a thickness in the range of less than 1 mm and is pressed to the underside of the glass ceramic plate.
