PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for an exclusive oblique character, and to convert a preparatory letter form into the oblique character as required by providing a laser printer with a delay control means in which the timing when the head data of character data is obtained is made later than that at the time of normalcy and is returned to normalcy in final data. CONSTITUTION:A delay control circuit 15 as a delay control means selectively outputs a horizontal synchronizing signal from a horizontal synchronization detector 9 or a plural row of delay synchronizing signals (the delay time or a first signal is maximized, and shortened successively and finally returned to zero) respectively delaying the signal at every fixed time. A controller 11 outputs the write-start timing on a photosensitive body drum 6 to a parallel/ serial conversion circuit 15 by an input from the control circuit 15, and a driver circuit 14 ON-OFF modulates a semiconductor laser 1 by a signal from the conversion circuit 13. When the delay synchronizing signal is output, the printing timing of an English character A stored on a character generator 12 is delayed at a first scanning address and returned to normalcy at a final scanning address in the English character A, thus setting the A of an oblique character. |
