PURPOSE:To reduce the burden of a memory and disk capacity by editing and generating a character pattern with a shadow corresponding to a character pattern read by a read means through the OR arithmetic operation of the character pattern and a shadow pattern. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 10 reads a desired character pattern (a) corresponding to the edition assignment of a character with a shadow from a memory 16 for the character pattern, stores it in a main memory 15, and overwrites it several times while obliquely displacing said character pattern at every one dot on the main memory 15. When an overwriting pattern (b) is obtained, the CPU 10 reads an arbitrary shadow pattern (c) in the same size as the character pattern from a memory 17 for a shadow pattern, and stores it in the main memory 15. The overwriting pattern (b) and the shadow pattern (c) are logically operated, and a pattern (d) is acquired. When the original character pattern (a) is superposed to the pattern (d), a character pattern (e) with the shadow is formed on the main memory 15, and stored in a video RAM 18. A CRT control section 14 reads the character pattern (e), and displays a corresponding bit map (e) on the picture plane of a CRT 19. |
