PURPOSE:To improve electrical resistivity and further to improve magnetic properties in a casting by means of solution heat treatment by adding specific amounts of Si and Al in an Fe-Co-V magnetic alloy with a specific composition. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic alloy has a composition consisting of, by weight, 40-60% Co, >0-5.0% V, >0-3.0% Si, >0-3.0% Al, <=0.1% C, and the balance Fe and containing, if necessary, <=10% of one or more elements among Cr, Ni, Mn, Ti, Mo, Nb, W, and Zr. This magnetic alloy can be manufactured by subjecting an alloy having the above composition to solution heat treatment from >=950 deg.C at >=30 deg.C/sec cooling rate and then to annealing at a temp. in the alpha-phase region, >=700 deg.C. In the above composition, electrical resistivity is improved and coercive force is reduced by the addition of Al, but cold forgeability is deteriorated when Al content exceeds 3%. Moreover, by the addition of Si, coercive force is reduced and the maximum permeability and electrical resistivity are improved and, further, eddy current loss is reduced at the time of use as a yoke material, but, when Si content exceeds 3%, cold forgeability is deteriorated. |
