Safety device for filtering dust separation elements

To prevent dust breakthroughs when individual filter elements are damaged, a safety device is proposed which comprises a finely perforated metal sheet which is mounted at the filter element exit towards the clean gas side. The perforated metal sheets have hole diameters between 5 and 250 mu m and have a resistance to flow of at most 200 Pa during fault-free operation. In the event of the filter element being damaged, the dust passing through is deposited on the perforated metal sheet, as a result of which the resistance to flow of the perforated metal sheet increases and the defective filter element is automatically taken out of operation.
