The portable typewriter, which is movable over a paper, includes four typing belts (62,62a,62b,62c) within a belt box (3) arranging types, a drum (2) stopping the four typing belts by control of a keyboard (1) key, a drive unit having a desired type positioned at a typewriting point, and a striker unit (5) striking the type on a paper by a rotary motion. A transfer belt (16) makes the whole body of the typewriter move over a paper by the space of one character instantly after typewriting one character. Selection between red and black inked ribbons is possible, and typewriting various kinds of characters being also possible by changing the typing belts.
