1,125,395. Wrenches. O. KASPER. 22 Oct., 1965 [23 Oct., 1964], No. 44771/65. Heading B4W. A toggle-operated wrench comprising a body 1 on which a stationary jaw 2 is mounted, a pivotally movable jaw 4, a toggle member 12<SP>1</SP> thereon, a second toggle member 14 pivoted at 19 to the body 1 and an operating lever 12 coupled to the toggle for closing the jaws, is characterized by a release lever 20 pivotally mounted on the same pivot-pin 19 by which the toggle member 14 is pivoted to the body 1. When the jaws are in the closed position as in Fig. 1, the toggle pair 12<SP>1</SP>, 14 abut against the shorter arm of the release lever 20, the longer arm resting inside the operating lever 12. When the release lever 20 is moved in the direction a, the toggle pair 12<SP>1</SP>, 14 is released, moving downwards a pin 15 in a guide slot 18 in the body 1, and via link 16 pivoting the movable jaw 4 to its open position. The setting of the jaws is controlled by a thumbscrew 9 which rotates a plate 7 about its pin 6 and thus moves laterally the pin 5 on which the jaw 4 is pivoted. |
