The application describes a device for air extraction at a hairdressing workplace, which device is characterised in that the hot-air region of a waving and hair-treatment station is also designed as an extraction unit, the extraction unit opening out into a filter in the bypass and said filter also extracting vapours, such as hairspray, from the head region in the foot region in the surrounding area of the workplace and thus bringing about a tendency of the pollutants to drop out of the breathing region, and the purified air being blown out laterally onto the workplace.
