PURPOSE:To obtain an optical active ester having high optical purity in high selectivity in high yield, by reacting a prochiral ethylenic unsaturated compound with CO and an alcohol using a specific catalyst and a reaction promotor so that it is subjected to hydroesterification. CONSTITUTION:A prochiral compound such as alpha-methylstyrene, etc. having carbon-carbon double bond is reacted with CO and an alcohol in the presence of a complex catalyst of an optical active diphosphine shown by the formulaI(DBP is 5H-dibenzophosphoryl shown by the formula II; R and R' are linked each other to form 4-5-membered carbon ring or heterocyclic ring; adjoining asymmetric carbon atoms with * are in the same configuration each other) and a palladium compound in the coexistence of one or more reaction promotors selected from a pyridine base such as chelating pyridine base, etc., a salt soluble such as chloride of ammonium, iminium, Li, Be, etc. soluble in an organic solvent, and hydrogen, to give an optical active ester. |
