An apparatus for the spreading of fertilizer has a supply container received by the platform of a vehicle and having outflow orifices and metering members which are arranged under these and which transfer the fertilizer to pneumatic transport lines, and a pneumatic spreading unit which can be raised and lowered at the rear of the vehicle and which has a plurality of spreading lines which extend transversely to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle and open onto the outside at varying distances from one another at distributor members and which are connected on the inside to at least one blower via a respective injector and an air distributor, each transport line opening out at the injector of a spreading line. To increase the stability, reduce the weight and improve the position of the centre of gravity, the spreading lines are arranged with their injectors vertically one above the other and the two air distributors assigned to the spreading lines on each side of the vehicle are arranged vertically, the longest spreading line being arranged at the top and the shortest spreading line at the bottom.
