The invention relates to a wheel for heavy vehicles. The tyre is connected to a rim ring of the wheel by positive engagement. In order to achieve the necessary dimensional stability with a low intrinsic weight by means of a hollow ring design, a pipe which is connected to the rim ring after the tyre is fitted is arranged inside the rim ring. The rim pipe is screwed to the hub by means of radial projections. In a further development, the hub has outwardly extending projections for the attachment of the rim which projections are connected to the hub pipe by ribs which slope in the circumferential direction in order to produce an axial airstream which serves to cool the brakes as the said ribs rotate. <IMAGE>
