Heat-distortion-resistant, thermoplastic moulding composition containing a copolymer, process for the preparation of the moulding composition, and the use thereof

A heat-distortion-resistant (heat-resistant) thermoplastic moulding composition containing a copolymer comprising the copolymerised monomers a) styrene and at least one b) N-substituted amide of methacrylic acid is characterised in that the monomers are present in the moulding composition in the following proportions, based on a) + b): a) from 5 to 95% by weight b) from 95 to 5% by weight, and furthermore that the monomer b) is the amide of methacrylic acid of the formula <IMAGE> where R is a primary, secondary or tertiary alkyl radical, a cycloalkyl radical, an aryl radical or an aralkyl radical having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, with the proviso that, for methyl and isopropyl as alkyl radical, the copolymers have a styrene content of less than 75% by weight. The moulding composition is used for the production of heat-distortion-resistant mouldings, optionally in composites with other thermoplastics.
