1,257,694. Catalyst composition. CHEVRON RESEARCH CO. 4 Aug., 1969 [2 Aug., 1968; 4 Sept., 1968], No. 39001/69. Heading B1E. [Also in Division C5] A catalyst composite comprises A/., a gel matrix comprising (a) at least 15 wt. percent of silica, (b) alumina sufficient to give a Al/Si weight ratio of 15/85 to 80/20, (c) nickel and/or cobalt in the form of the metal, oxide, sulphide or mixtures thereof, in an amount calculated as metal, of from 1 to 10% wt. based on the matrix, and (d) 5 to 25% wt. of molybdenum and/or tungsten; and B/. a crystalline zeolite molecular sieve substantially in the ammonia or hydrogen form and substantially free of any catalytic loading metal or metals, said sieve being dispersed in particulate form throughout the matrix; the composite having an average pore diameter of below 100 A‹ and a surface area above 200 m<SP>2</SP>/g. The gel which may be a Xeragel may further comprise 1 to 10% wt. of titanium, zirconium, thorium or hafnium, in the form of the metals, oxides, sulphides or any mixture thereof. The catalyst may be sulphided before use. |
