1,265,660. Compost containing iron and copper. FISONS Ltd. 30 July, 1969 [17 Aug., 1968], No. 39461/68. Heading C1B. A propagating compost contains a plant growth medium (such as peat, sand, vermiculite, perlite or polystyrene), a copper salt and an iron salt, the ratio of iron ion to copper ion being greater than 7 : 1, the amount of copper ion in the compost being >50 p.p.m. and the amount of iron ion being <5000 p.p.m. Copper and iron sulphates and nitrates are specified as suitable components. A fertilizer base also may be present and specified components are potassium nitrate, sulphate and chloride, triple superphosphate, mono-ammonium phosphate, potassium metaphosphate, ammonium nitrate and sulphate, urea-formaldehyde resins, hoof and horn, dried blood, limestone and trace elements (B, Mo, Mg). The high level of iron ion reduces the toxicity of the copper. |
