If breakdowns and/or emergencies arise, a guided, e.g. magnetic suspension, vehicle is prevented from being stopped in tunnels, on bridges or on pathless terrain. Between preselected stopping regions (11, 12, 13) provided with means for evacuation of passengers and for intervention by rescue services, the vehicle is always operated at such a high speed (above minimum speed lines 14, 15, 16) that even if the driving force fails, travel can still continue on account of its instantaneous momentum at least as far as a preselected subsequent stopping region in the direction of travel. If a breakdown and/or emergency situation arises within a stopping region the vehicle (2) may be brought to a standstill by initiation of an automatic train stop along braking curves (17, 18, 19) in this stopping region. …<IMAGE>… |
