PURPOSE:To obtain a hologram recorder which is excellent in image contrast and in gradation property by providing a means which adjusts the intersection angle of the polarized axis of the polarizer of a TN type liquid crystal panel, and optimizing the transmittance character of the liquid crystal panel with respect to a monochromatic color. CONSTITUTION:The TN type liquid crystal panel 13 is a TN cell which revolves clockwise. The orientating direction of the TN cell is a direction having an approximately orthogonal intersection angle OMEGA as shown by an arrow. The polarized axis of the polarizer 12 is set matching with the direction 32 widened by alpha from the direction of the orientating direction 31 in the side of incidence and the polarized axis of an analyzer 14 is set matching with the direction 34 widened by alpha from a direction intersecting orthogonally with an orientating direction 33 in the side of emission. Then, angle adjustment is performed in a direction that the angle of a polarizing plate and the voltage-transmittance character of the TN type liquid crystal panel becomes gentle, that is, in a direction that the angle of the polarized axis is widened. Besides, the intersection angle of the polarized axis is limited in the range of 0-20 deg.. Thus, a hologram recorder which is excellent in image contrast and in gradation performance can be obtained. |
