PURPOSE:To facilitate the molding of honeycomb-shaped catalyst, by mixing solution containing V2O5 and K salt, diatomaceous earth, water, and binder containing sodium polyacrylate, extruding thereafter the mixture into a grid or honeycomb-like shape. CONSTITUTION:A solution containing vanadium pentaoxide and potassium salt, diatomaceous earth, water, and binder containing sodium polyacrylate are mixed and kneaded. The mixture so obtained is extruded to be molded to produce a sulfur dioxide catalyst of gas parallel flow type in such a manner that gas-through holes thereof have a grid or honeycomb-shaped construction. The mixing condition of the mixture is generally such that solution of vanadium pentaoxide and potassium salt (pH9-12) 20-50wt.%, diatomaceous earth 35-50wt.%, water 10-25wt.%, binder containing sodium polyacrylate 10-20wt.%. |
