PURPOSE:To permit easy cutting and removing of bands, by pressing in one direction a compressible articles packed with the bands bound around the peripheral surfaces thereof, whereby the bands are cut off from one face thereof and the cut pieces of the bends are removed from the opposite face thereof. CONSTITUTION:The packed articles 2 such as corrugated fiberboards and kraft pulp bound together with bands 1 into a square form are securely placed on a floor F and, from above it, a push rod 3 of a compressor is moved downwardly into contact with the upper face of the packed articles 2 and a vertical compressive pressure is then applied thereto, resulting in the occurrence of the looseness of the front and back faces 2a and 2c of the packed articles 2 and the formation of a gap between the bands 1 and the packed articles 2. In this condition, a cutter 4 is inserted into this gap and pulled outwardly to cut bands 1. Before cutting the bands 1, a rod-shaped band remover 5 is inserted between the back face of the packed article and the bands and, after cutting them off, the packed articles are turned outwardly or moved straight and the cut pieces of the band 1 are then removed from the packed articles 2. Therefore, this method permits easy automatic cutting and removing of the band and safe unpacking including the after-treatment of the removed bands. |
