POROUS ION EXCHANGE CELLULOSE PARTICLE AND PREPARATION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To enhance pressure-resistant strength at the time of the packing of a column, by forming a porous ion exchange cellulose particle having specific values in ion exchange capacity, the max. pore volume value and the total pore volume, while possessing a diameter of 500mum at the time of wetting. CONSTITUTION:Coagulated viscose fine particles containing 5-60wt.% of cellu lose xanthate as cellulose are prepared and neutralized by an acid to regenerate cellulose to prepare fine particles containing cellulose while an ion exchange group is introduced into said fine particles in an alkaline uniform solvent to prepare porous ion exchange cellulose particles. The obtained particles have a spherical or oval shape having a particle size of 500mum or less at a wetting time and the ion exchange capacity thereof is 0.1-3meq/g and the max. pore volume value thereof is in a section of a pore size of 0.006-1mum and the total pore volume in said section is 0.05ml/g or more.
