PURPOSE:To secure a sufficient catalytic component bonding area and a sufficient reaction fluid flow passage, by adding ceramic particles having a specific pore size to an aggregate, while adding frit to a binder and molding resulting mixture before sintering the same. CONSTITUTION:A ceramic or metal particle having a pore structure of an average particle size of 1-10mum is used as aggregate and frit, wherein NaO, CaO or the like are contained in SiO2 being a main component, or aluminum phosphate is added to said aggregate as a binder. The resulting kneaded mixture is molded into a desired shape and the aggregate particle is solidified at 1000 deg.C or less. The porous body thus obtained has a porous shape suitable for a catalyst carrier and, since the specific surface area thereof is especially wide, a sufficient catalytic component contact area and a sufficient reaction fluid flow passage area secured. |
