PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition improved in shape retentivity upon extrusion and the surface smoothness of an extrudate, by dispersing a thermoplastic polyester in an ethylene/alpha-olefin/diene copolymer rubber and subjecting the dispersion to grafting with the aid of a coupling agent. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. ethylene/alpha-olefin/diene copolymer rubber (EPDM) is kneaded with 2-150 pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester (PET), 0.2-5 pts.wt. (per 100 pts.wt. total of EPDM and the thermoplastic polyester resin) silane coupling agent and, optionally, a heat stabilizer, a tackifier, etc., in a mixer. The particulate thermoplatic polyester resin dispersed in this composition has a form of a sphere, spheroid or short fiber. The coupling agent is selected from among a silane coupling agent, a titanate coupling agent and an unsaturated carboxylic acid. If necessary, this composition may be taken up in the form of fiber. |
