HORIZONTAL CONTINUOUS CASTING METHOD

PURPOSE:To prevent the disturbance of the oscillation mark on the surface of an ingot and the generation of any surface flaw by fitting a member for preventing the inflow of slag in the inlet of a casting mold from the inner side of a tundish and preventing the inclusion of slag into the casting mold. CONSTITUTION:A casting mold 2 is mounted to a tundish 1, and a member 4 for preventing the inflow of slag is fitted into the inlet of the mold 2 from the inner side of the tundish 1. Molten metal 6 is charged from a ladle 5 into the tundish 1. The slag 7 contained in the metal 6 is floated on the surface of the metal 6. The member 4 is pushed into the tundish 1 and is removed from the inlet of the mold 2 to fill only the metal 6 into the mold 2. An ingot is drawn out continuously under cooling.
