PURPOSE:To obtain the uniformity of the brightness of the large-sized panel light source element by forming the element in such a manner that the virtual plane has the satin surface substantially parallel with the surface of a reflecting layer. CONSTITUTION:A light source 14 is installed on the side face 11 of a photoconductor and the side face 11 is used as a light incident face 16. The face disposed with a roughened surface on the face orthogonal therewith is used as a light exit face 16. The photoconductor 50 has the reflecting layer 13 on the face opposite to the exit face and emits not only the direct incident light on the exit face but also the light reflected by the reflecting layer 13 in the direction of the exit face 16. An exit light adjusting member 51 has the pattern of the reflecting layer and the light in the part near the light source is much reflected and the light in the central part is mostly transmitted. The light emitted from the light exit face 16 is thus reflected or transmitted by the exit light adjusting member 51 according to the position thereof by which the quantity of the light near the light source 15 and the quantity of the light in the central part are uniformized. |
