PURPOSE:To obtain ultrathick aromatic polyamide fibers, by melt spinning an aromatic polyamide polymer through a mesh-like spinneret having a specific porosity. CONSTITUTION:An aromatic polyamide polymer powder is fed from the opposite side of an extrusion surface of a mesh-like spinneret having >=10% porosity (alpha) expressed by the formula[(Va] is the apparent total volume of the mesh-like part of the spinneret in unit area; (Vf) is the total volume of the mesh-like member surrounding the pores in unit area of the mesh-like part of the spinneret] and adjacent many pores and melt extruded through the spinneret while supplying heat from partition members of the spinneret to give the aimed ultrathick fibers having 100-100,000 average deniers. |
