Crystalline explosives octogen (HMX) (I) and hexogen (RDX) (II) are extrd. from the HOAc acidic mother liq. in which they were produced by nitration of hexamine (III) with NH4NO3, Ac2O, and HNO3 as follows: (a) the mother liq. at the end of the reaction contg. deposited, formed (I) is heated (without filtration) in a closed vessel to 90-200 deg. C not more than 5 bar for 15-120 min.; (b) the crystalline (I) and (II) are then filtered off. |
