PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic raw material effective for the early recovery of dermatic fatigue, bleaching of pigment, prevention of aging, prevention of wrinkle, etc., by decomposing a sclero-protein conchiolin with sulfuric acid, neutralizing the product in two steps and removing the produced precipitate. CONSTITUTION:Conchiolin which is a scleroprotein existing in pearl and various shells is decomposed and subjected to the first neutralization with Ba(OH)2 to 2.5-2.7pH and then to the second neutralization with NaOH, etc., to 5-6pH. The objective cosmetic raw material is produced e.g. by cooling the neutralization product and removing the formed precipitate by centrifugal separation, filtration, etc. The sulfuric acid decomposition is carried out by using an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid having a concentration of 0.5-20% and the scleroprotein is hydrolyzed at a temperature controlled to 0-150 deg.C for 30 min-10 days. The characteristic skin-beautifying effect of the scleroprotein is maintained in the cosmetic raw material in spite of the removal of the sensitizing substance. |
