PURPOSE:To uniformize an operational load on a compressor, to reduce variations in the load on a main engine and reduce power loss, by a method wherein two pressure containers are provided, and while a particulate material to be conveyed is charged into one of the containers, compressed air is discharged into the other continuously. CONSTITUTION:In the operation of the conveyor for a bulk cargo which is fed under pressure by an air compressor 2 driven by the main engine 1 of a ship, two pressure container 5, 6 are provided, and while the material to be conveyed is charged into one of the containers by a bucket elevator 12 and an air slide 13, compressed air supplied from the air compressor is released into the other container, and a cargo handling operation is conducted by uitilizing the two pressure containers alternately. Accordingly, the compressor 2 is constantly operated, the operational load thereon is made to be uniform, the variation in the load on the main engine 1 is reduced, and power loss is reduced. |
