PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic head which keeps a superior contact state between a tape and the magnetic head at the time of performing recording and reproduction with short wavelength and a rotary head device using the same by forming a through hole to attract the tape on the magnetic head toward the contact plane of the head with the tape. CONSTITUTION:Since tapered recessed grooves 12a and 13a are formed on the joining plane of a pair of upper core half bodies to be joined with a lower core 11 which comprises the magnetic head, a convergent first through hole 14 is formed by the recessed groove. Meanwhile, a second through hole 20 formed from the tape contact plane 17 in the neighborhood of a gap 18 to the first through hole 14 is formed. When the magnetic head constituted in such way is loaded on a rotary cylinder in the rotary head device, since an air flow flows from the aperture 12b of the first through hole 14 and negative pressure is generated in the through hole 20, it is possible to guide a feeding tape to the tape contact planes 16 and 17 in a satisfactory condition. In such a way, the superior contact state between the tape and the head in the recording and reproduction with short wavelength can be kept. |
