The following array inter-element spacings are in the embodiments: (i) a three-element linear array with spacings 12# and 14#, (ii) a threeelement linear array with spacings 2# and 18#, and (iii) a four-element linear array with spacings 8#, 10# and 12#. The invention may be applied to a radar. The digital phase measuring means is a binary type and the correlation process is explained with the assistance of diagrams.
