PURPOSE:To heighten the joining strength of a ferrite member and to improve the accuracy of magnetic head width by forming a magnetic gap by joining the ferrite members at both sides integrally by solid reaction via a nonmagnetic layer with prescribed thickness consisting of an SiO or an SiO2. CONSTITUTION:The nonmagnetic layer 54 with the prescribed thickness gammaconsisting of the SiO or SiO2 is formed on the surface of the gap forming part of the ferrite member 50 on one side out of two ferrite members 50 and 52. And the abutting planes 56a and 56b of each abutting part of the ferrite members 50 and 52 are abutted with each other, and are joined integrally by th solid reaction. Since the film thickness of the nonmagnetic layer 54 can be decided by sputtering or vapor-deposition, etc., to form the layer by constituting the ferrite part, it is possible to control the width of the magnetic gap with high accuracy. Also, since the ferrite members are joined and integrated with each other directly by the solid reaction, the strength in a joining part can be increased. |
