PURPOSE:To accomplish effective copying actions by detecting whether or not an original cover member is completely closed and omitting actions for erasing the image of the periphery of an original image at the time of detecting that the member is closed. CONSTITUTION:At the time of judging that a frameless mode is specified according to the operation of an editing key 30g and an operational key 304 and detecting that the original cover 11 is not closed by a cover detection switch 600 according to the operation of a copying key 30a, a dark part is detected from reflected light from an original surface by the scanning of an optical system and the charges on a corresponding photosensitive drum are removed so as to erase the image which appears on the periphery of the original image. On the other hand, at the time of detecting that the original cove 11 is closed, the above-mentioned erasing actions are omitted. Thus, a series of actions from preliminary scanning for identifying light and darkness to the removal of the surface charges of the corresponding photosensitive drum become needless when the original cover is closed. |
