METHOD OF SUPPLYING ELECTRODE FACE OF CARBON ELECTRODE

PURPOSE:To enable the easy batchwise or continuous supply of the fresh electrode face of a carbon electrode by extruding a carbon electrode rod housed in a cylindrical case from above so that said rod is projected from a fine pipe. CONSTITUTION:The carbon electrode is constituted by providing the fine pipe 3 to the front end part of the cylindrical case 2 of the carbon electrode rod 1 and inserting the carbon electrode rod 1 into the fine pipe 3 so as to project the rod from the front end thereof. The carbon electrode rod 1 is extruded from above and the carbon electrode rod 3 extruded from the pipe 3 is cut at a suitable length. The fresh electrode face is, therefore, formed extremely easily. The fresh electrode face is supplied automatically if the extruding and cutting of the carbon electrode rod are executed repeatedly at specified intervals by using a synchronous control device.
