As a solution, the invention provides that the intermediate station (4) arranged after the push-across station (3) is constructed as a line formation and gap divider station and has a linear module (9) which is effective below the conveying plane for the piece goods and through the supporting surfaces (8), can be brought into connection with the bottom (10) of the piece goods and/or an end face, can be driven in accordance with the required layer pattern and can be moved into any desired position with the relevant piece goods (10', 13, 15).
