Device for eliminating the pretensioning of a spring by annealing the spring. Preferred application in the springs of motor vehicles (front spring/shock absorber). Electric contacts are connected to the spring at the top and at the bottom in an accessible area. Current is produced by a welding transformer. If the strength of the current is increased further, the spring begins to glow. The spring is a heating coil. Subsequently, the spring is briefly compressed which takes place with a small outlay of energy.
