<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a coating composition having high coating strength with reduced pollution by ocean organisms by formulating a silicone elastomer containing a curable polyorganosiloxane and its curing agent, a polyisocyanate which can form polyurea and a specific compound. CONSTITUTION: This coating composition contains (A) a curable polyorganosiloxane, (B) a curing agent which can cure the component A to a silicone elastomer, (C) a polyisocyanate and (D) a compound bearing one or more active hydrogen-bearing group or another compound which can be hydrolyzed to a compound bearing one or more active hydrogenbearing group which can react with the component C to form polyurethane, polyurea or poly(urethane-urea). In the subject coating composition, the weight ratio of (A+B) to (C+D) is 60-40-95/5, particularly 70/30-90/10. This composition is particularly effective for controlling the fouling by marine organisms such as weeds or corn barnacles on the surface in the underwater structures such as vessel shells and outlet and inlet for cooling water for power plants.</p> |
