A pretreating method of a copper coated iron alloy wire is characterized by pretreating of copper coated iron alloy wires supplied from the pay off, by shot blast during being coiled through a drawing machine, a shot blast, a coiler and a coating bath successively. The advantages of this treatment are: (1) that thick and fine oxide film can be removed; (2) that the process is simpler than a chemical process; (3) that hydrogen embrittlement and pollution problem from chemical process can be avoided; (4) that less restriction of the base metal is required.
