<p>A composition for inhibiting absorption of nucleic acid bases in a living body, which contains as an active ingredient a lower thio alkanoic acid represented by the general formula: R1-S-R2-COOH (wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, and R2 represents a lower alkylene group optionally substituted by an amino group) or its salt. This composition is effective for prophylaxis and treatment of gout in virtue of its action of inhibiting absorption of nucleic acid bases.</p> |
