The invention relates to a cocking mechanism for an air gun with precompressed air, with a cock (1b) engaging on the pressure piston via an articulated linkage, the articulated linkage being so designed as a six-point linkage that the cock is articulated on the system at the first articulation point (14), and the coupling member (20) is articulated on it at a second articulation point (18), carried by the cock, at the other end of the coupling member there engaging at a third articulation point (22) one end of a rod (24, 40) (connecting rod or piston rod) which itself carries a fourth articulation point (26), at which engages on the rod a deflecting lever (28), the other end of which is connected to the system at a fifth articulation point (30), whilst finally the sixth articulation point (36) is provided either at the other end of the rod (40) or on the cylinder bottom (36) of the pressure-generating cylinder/piston device (34). Appropriately, the first (14) and fifth (30) articulation points can coincide.
