PURPOSE:To obtain an agent consisting of ceramic fine particles and a fatty acid salt of a fatty acid with a metal with antimicrobial action sticking to the surface thereof, having high antimicrobial and germicidal activity and stable to ultraviolet rays and antimicrobial resin, fiber, paper or coating containing said agent. CONSTITUTION:An antimicrobial agent consisting of fine particles (preferably ceramic) having 1mum-1mm particle diameter and a salt of a fatty acid (preferably stearic acid) with a metal (preferably silver or copper) with antimicrobial action sticking to the surface thereof and a molded resin product, synthetic fiber, paper or coating containing the above-mentioned agent. Since the afore- mentioned antimicrobial agent has high antimicrobial and germicidal action and is stable to ultraviolet rays without discoloration, the agent can be mixed in transparent resins, white foams, coatings, etc. Fine silica particles are especially preferred as the ceramic fine particles and a more desirable particle diameter in mixing in resins, etc., is 7-30mum. |
