A linear drive unit (2) having a drive motor (4), a downstream transmission (8), a downstream female threaded spindle drive (10), and an output drive rod (14) which is arranged such that its axis is at a distance from that of the drive motor. A hollow, first extruded profile section (20) forms the main part of the motor housing (18), and a hollow, second extruded profile section (66) holds at least part of the length of a supporting tube (12) for the output drive rod.
