EXPLOSIVE CUTTING DEVICE WITH WAVEGUIDE

A waveguide for an explosive cutting device comprising an elongate waveguide structure which in use is positioned in contact with the surface of an object (4) to be cut, the waveguide extending along the intended line of cut. The waveguide structure is shaped in section perpendicular to its length such that it defines two segments each bordered on one side by a common substantially straight edge (1) and on the other side by a respective arc of a circle (2, 3). The perpendicular distance between the centre of curvature (5, 6) of each arc and the straight edge is greater than the thickness of the object (4) to be cut, the centres of curvature of the two arcs are equally spaced from the said straight edge, and the centres of curvature of the two arcs are spaced apart such that no two radii drawn from the arcs to the respective centres of curvature intersect.
