A joint prosthesis comprises a flexible body 11 having an enlarged centre portion 12 and two stem portions 13, 14 oppositely projecting from the centre portion for connection with bones on each side of the jaw. The width of the stem portions is greater than their thickness and the centre portion has a concavity 16 so that the body will bend in only one direction and resistance to bending in that direction is reduced. The stem portions may be aligned or disposed at an obtuse angle to one another. The device may be made of silicone rubber and may be used to replace natural finger joints. |
