PURPOSE:To provide refractory material contg. carbon, remarkably improved in oxidation resistance and spalling resistance, by making from carbonaceous material coated with a colloidal soln. of one or more kinds of SiO2, Al2O3, TiO2 and ZrO2, and refractory material. CONSTITUTION:The carbonaceous material such as natural graphite, artificial graphite is coated with the colloidal soln. above-mentioned. As the colloidal soln., one or more kinds of alcoholic silica sol, aq. silica sol, aq. alumi sol, SiO2 alkoxyhydrolysate sol, etc., can be used. When the colloidal soln. is used in 1-10 pts.wt. as solid component to 100 pts.wt. carbonaceous material, a particularly good result is obtd. The targeted refractory material contg. carbonaceous material is obtd. by adding and mixing 3-50 pts.wt. carbonaceous material applied with the coated film above-mentioned to 100 pts.wt. the refractory material. |
